Round 7 delivered the ultimate test for MHSOBFC as they faced ladder-leaders Old Yarra on a sunny yet windy Saturday. Eager to build on last week's victory, the Unicorns arrived at one of the league's largest grounds ready for a challenge.

MHSOBFC started strong, kicking with the wind in the first quarter. They piled on four unanswered goals in the opening 15 minutes, seizing an early advantage. However, Old Yarra gradually found their rhythm, fighting back with two goals against the wind to narrow the gap. At quarter time, MHSOBFC led 5.0 (30) to Old Yarra's 2.1 (13).

Facing the breeze in the second quarter, the Unicorns held their own for the first ten minutes. But Old Yarra, leveraging the conditions, then unleashed a flurry of goals, taking a 19-point lead into halftime.

After the main break, MHSOB roared back in the third quarter, mirroring their strong first-quarter scoring. Their renewed effort brought them leading by three points over Old Yarra heading into the final term, igniting hopes for an upset. The Unicorns' spirits soared even higher when they kicked their first goal against the wind early in the fourth quarter, snatching a nine-point lead. Unfortunately, their momentum was short-lived as Old Yarra were able to comfortably kick away, taking a 15-point win over the Unicorns.

Despite the loss, several Unicorns stood out. The ruckman and midfield group, Brayden Swenson, Nick McKinnon, Allister Clarke, and Sean Lester, were instrumental. Swenson consistently got his hand on the ball first, allowing the midfield to dictate play from the center and force Old Yarra into defensive positions. Ben Field Pimm consistently put himself in good positions in defense, and Will Hellier showcased his athleticism up forward, finishing the day with two goals.

Final Scores: MHSOBFC 12.4.76 defeated by Old Yarra Cobras 14.7.91.

Goals: Mathew Pereira 2, Alex Mourtikas 2, Will Hellier 2, Nick McKinnon, James Lees, Thomas Golz, Yonal Gunawardena, Benjamin Field-Pimm, Cameron Witt.

Best: Nick McKinnon, Brayden Swenson, Allister Clarke, Ben Field Pimm, Will Hellier.
