The boys hit the track hard during the week, drilling set plays crafted by assistant coach Joseph Pious, and were ready to roar at the familiar Ian Johnson Oval — the scene of our famous first win over AJAX.

It was a sensational weekend to be a JnrCorn, as the boys delivered a commanding win over Preston last weekend—an emphatic 121-point victory that well and truly stamped us as a team to watch this season. With strong numbers on the track during the week and a focus on correcting second-half lapses, the lads came out ready to make a statement—and they did just that.

After last week’s gut-wrenching 7-point loss at the final siren, the JnrCorns had a point to prove. With grading officially wrapped up, Round 5 marked the true start of our 2025 campaign—and the boys made sure to kick things off in dominant fashion.

This week presented a new challenge for the JnrCorns. Travelling to Elsternwick Park to take on a red-hot Old Melburnians side fresh off a 110-point win, our young squad knew they were up against it. Bigger bodies, more cohesion—but none of that fazed the boys. They came to compete.

Round 3 presented a new challenge – and a golden opportunity – for the newly formed Development Squad: a Sunday 11 AM showdown against AJAX, on their turf.

After a tough 2024 campaign, the JnrCorns entered the new season with fresh energy, a new look, and a new attitude. With Kevin Pious taking the reins as head coach and joined by assistant coach Joseph Pious, there was a clear buzz around the launch of the “Development Squad.”
R14 2024 | U20s at St Marys Salesian
MHSOBFC was fired up for a clash at Ferndale Park against St Marys Salesian, in which they knew what to expect from the match given the wet and slippery conditions. With this being the first wet weather game of the year, something all involved were looking forward to, the Unicorns were aware that they had to throw everything they had out there in order to give themselves a chance at their first victory of the season.
R13 2024 | U20s vs Caulfield Grammar
After a couple of weeks off, the U20s returned from the heartbreak that occurred before the break and were looking to build on the momentum the team had gained in weeks prior, with many talented players returning to the team for this clash they needed to get acclimated to the rainy weather and prepare themselves for battle.

Following a gallant loss against St Kevins, MHSOBFC was excited to head down the road to face an old rival in Glen Eira/Old McKinnon on a brisk Friday night. With the return of some key players, and a few fresh faces too, the visitors were excited about the match up.

MHSOBFC was eager to demonstrate their improvement to rivals St Kevins since their previous clash in round 4. With four new players in the team this week, strong communication and cohesion was crucial, and they delivered on both fronts at home on the Woodfull-Miller Oval.

Following a tough outing in their previous match against Old Xaverians, MHSOBFC returned to their home ground for a clash against Therry Penola, eager to play another re-graded team again.

MHSOBFC ventured to Stradbroke Park in Kew to play Old Xaverians in an attempt to notch their first win of the season after encountering some recent heavy losses.

MHSOBFC travelled to Beaumaris on a crisp Friday night for an eagerly anticipated clash under lights. With the first night game of the season, hopes were high for a competitive match.
